Modes

Manage mode

Manage mode is for building up the platform structure. It is the processes of creating a standardised format that provides a framework for capturing and organising data about a particular workflow. In manage mode, you are able to create and edit types, templates and instances. Enabling you to set up the platform, including workflows, review processes and data ingestion systems to name a few. Those with manage permissions can use the platform in either manage or operate mode.

Operate mode

Operate mode is for carrying out the work set up by the managers. In operate mode, you can create and edit instances. You are also able to create and respond to review requests. Those with operate permissions are not able to enter manage mode
More fine grain permissions can be introduced on an individual template level using training. Read more about it here.

Permission Levels

There are three main permission levels in Seal:
Permission LevelDescription
Viewer- View entities - Respond to training requests Note that the default level for all users is a Viewer.
Operator- All viewer permissions, and: - Executing entities (create, edit, review and archive records, including test instances) - Add and remove tags from entities - Run scripts - Create, edit and remove workflow tasks
Manager- All Operator permissions, and: - Create and edit training requests and view the training management page - Create, edit and archive Type entities - Create, edit, review and archive Template entities - Create, edit and remove views, view groups and tags
Permissions are set on the individual user when their account is created. They can then be edited any time by org admins.

Admins

We have 2 types of admins: org admins & system admins.
Learn more about what system admins and org admins can do here.

Adding and Deleting Users

Only org admins can manage user counts within the organisation - click on the ‘Users’ tag in the Settings page. Note that if a user limit may have been set on your Seal Platform, based on your contract. If more users are required, please email support@seal.run.

User Groups

Users can be assigned user groups via the settings panel. User groups are not related to permissions, they are just for grouping different users. Users can be added into more than one user group. Review requests can be sent out to user groups.
